(Congo–Kinshasa)–Next, Rwandan-backed Congolese rebels and the government have struck a preliminary deal on ending their 4-year-war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. While months of violence forced missionaries from the region, HCJB World Radio’s Ron Cline says they’ve stayed on the air. “We have Richard and Kathy McDonald there. They have been there for 10 years and have not come out because of the wars and rebels. They would lose the station. I was there recently and a man told me that every morning he turns on the radio to see if they’re still there and if they’re still there he knows that it’s safe to stay.” Cline says they operate on FM and Short wave frequencies. He says this ministry needs prayer. “They haven’t been able to get home and renew their support, so they’re living on a shoestring in there. And, they can’t get some of the equipment they need. And, pray for the McDonalds. They want to be there. They want to serve the Lord and they’re not going to come home until the job is done and it’s not done yet from their point of view.”
