Story number 2 for 8 Jul 2002

(USA)–Meanwhile, more than half of all adults in the United States are listening to some kind of Christian radio. That’s the word from Barna Research group out of California. If that’s true, the acting President of the National Christian Radio Alliance Wayne Pederson says Christian radio programmers must do more to reach out. “This research shows that we have many more people that do not have a commitment to Jesus Christ that are listening. When you realize that over a third of those who listen to Christian radio do not have a commitment to Jesus Christ we need to craft our message in such a way that what we have to say is appealing to them and not just talking to ourselves.” Pederson expects to see more “Need Him” type radio spots as the Christian radio industry becomes aware of this phenomenon. “These are the 60-second spots with a short message of how a person can begin a personal relationship with Christ and then a phone number or a web site for them to response. And, thousands of people have come to Christ.”
