(Philippines)–Next, Philippines’ president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is vowing that troops will hunt down the Abu Sayyaf. She has long called the Muslim rebel group a ‘scourge’ on her country, and mounted efforts to stop their terrorism. Despite the danger, Walk Through the Bible’s Terry Sparks says their World Teachers in the Philippines are determined. “Obviously, our teachers are trying to be wise, and trying to be careful. But, they’re willing to put their lives on the line, on a regular basis. Our actual dream is to have a trained Bible teacher within walking distance of every person in the world, so, some of our teachers are in Mindanao and Basilan.” Sparks says people are responding the Gospel; please pray for the teachers. “Pray that God will give special wisdom and insight; that they will be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. And, that He would close the eyes of the Abu Sayyaf and that they would go undetected.”
