(Central Asia)–Missionary outreach to the former Soviet Union is becoming extremely difficult. Idea News reports that 10-years after the break up, many Central Asian countries are more antagonistic to Christianity. Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have become the poorest countries in the C-I-S. Because of the lack of hope, people are turning to radical Islamic groups in large numbers. Many Christians believe this is a pivotal time for evangelism because it’s unclear how long religious freedom will continue there.
