(Republic of Georgia) — Next, the Republic of Georgia’s President Eduard Shevardnadze spent two hours this week with religious leaders. Religious freedom and how to overcome religious violence was the topic of discussion. Evangelical Christians have been targets of violence as many Georgians are coming to saving faith. The most recent attack came against eight American pastors in March. Some believe the meeting could be the beginning of the end of religious violence there. Others aren’t so certain, as groups like the Pentecostals were not invited to the meeting.
