Story number 2 for 20 Jun 2001

By June 20, 2001

(India)–Meanwhile, Bible Pathway Ministries is asking for prayer for a daughter ministry in India. Agency spokeswoman Karen Hawkins says Hindu extremists have threatened Hope Givers International’s Emmanuel Orphanage in the state of Rajasthan. Hawkins says June 22nd is the deadline they’ve established. “They’ve threatened that if the government doesn’t do anything to close down the orphanages then they are not only going to attack the orphanages they are going to attack the police station because the police are protecting them. Whether the government will back off because they’re going to come under threat we don’t know.” Hawkins explains why the Hindus feel threatened. “Doctor Thomas has what he calls, God’s Orphan Army. He takes the children who are thrown away, brings them up in the admonition of the Lord, they go out as missionaries to plant churches and spread the Gospel. These anti-Christians say they’re changing a Hindu’s religion.”
