(Mozambique)–We begin today’s newscast in Mozambique where Christians there are mourning the loss of two workers. Christian Aid’s Africa Director Johan Gous (YO-hahn HOHS) says the Director of the Timothy Training Institute, Antonio Manuel Chilaule (chi-la-OO-lee), was gunned down during a car jacking in Maputo last weekend. “He came out of church walked up to the Timothy Training Vehicle and was confronted by a person demanding the keys to the vehicle. He realized that it was a tight spot that he was in and apparently he did hand over the keys. And, the next thing that happened – he was shot.” Chilaule leaves a wife and five children. Gous says the loss is great because he was a great leader. “Antonio in fact, spoke 8 or 9 different languages. So, yeah, it’s going to be very difficult to replace him. He fitted the bill of our calling from 2 Timothy 2 verse 2 where it says, ‘…find faithful men’.” Mafalda Cossa, a tutor with the program, was also shot. She died a shot time later.
