Specialized English is allowing students of the English language to hear God’s word. Words of Hope in partnership with FEBA Radio have developed this special radio program. Words of Hopes’ David Bast. “It uses a very limited vocabulary, simple sentences, and the more noticeable thing is a very slow delivery speed. And, they’ve proven to be very popular with an international audience of people wanting to learn English. So, we felt like this might be something that could be used for communicating the Gospel.” The pilot project is now being picked up by the major missionary radio agencies. Bast says it’s a covert radio program. “We’re really hoping to attract people who wouldn’t listen to Christian broadcasts in whatever language. We’re really designing these programs to be an introduction to Christian views and beliefs. So, they’re not overtly evangelistic.” The program is heard in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
