HCJB World Radio reports that for the first time since Nigeria’s northern states began adopting sharia law, President Olusegun Obasanjo has formally protested the move. State officials fear the issue could lead to the disintegration of the nation. Nearly a fourth of Nigeria’s 36 states have taken steps to adopt full sharia or have announced their intention to do so. Although Christians have been assured of their safety, riots have broken out over the matter. Please pray for the safety of believers there.
