Ukraine (MNN) – As previous ceasefires appear to do little for eastern Ukraine, NATO may be stepping in to help.
In a report by Ukraine Today, the head of NATO forces in Europe has been looking into the possibility of sending weapons for Ukrainian defense efforts. Despite being left out of the media, the fighting between Russia and Ukraine has not stopped. But through the violence, God has been at work in this country.
“It seems that the Church, in the middle of hardship, is growing. That in the middle of difficulties, people are becoming acutely aware that if their hope is in man, that hope is faulty and fading at best,” says Eric Mock with Slavic Gospel Association.
“But when you hear the message of the Gospel, not a message that God is going to solve all the problems in your life . . . but instead a Gospel that talks about the hope that we have in Heaven and how to find peace in the middle of the storm.”
The Gospel’s light has been such a beautiful gift from God that, according to Mock, Ukrainian Christians, even in the face of death, are working to spread it to their country people. And in a country which has seen so much despair, buildings and factories demolished from the violence – which won’t be up and running for at least 10-15 years, the light of the Gospel is much needed.
But for churches to continue sharing the Gospel, help from the West for resources is needed. “So the people are really struggling and they really count on the fact that churches and individuals . . . who would step up and equip these churches to minister to those in need,” Mock explains.
SGA works with churches in Ukraine to provide resources enabling them to care for their communities physically and spiritually. But with funds running low and the need in Ukraine growing, would you consider donating to SGA’s Crisis Evangelism Fund?
The fund helps Ukrainian pastors and their churches distribute food, Bibles, and other essentials. These resources enable pastors to be the hands and feet of Jesus and spread the Gospel not only in word, but also in deed.
Can you also pray for Ukraine, the pastors, churches, and families there, and for the Gospel to continue changing hearts. Pray also for God to provide for Ukraine’s deep needs and heal the country’s brokenness.
Prayer: Father God, we pray for the people of Ukraine. Father in the pain of suffering, deprivation and brokenness, help the people to draw near to you. Help them to seek and ask you for all their needs. Lord we pray for peace in the midst of all the chaos and war. Lord your Word says that the joy of the Lord is our strength – help them to find this joy and peace that passes all understanding.
Father we also pray for the pastors, church of Christ in this country to be protected and provided for. Enable the people by your Spirit to minister to each other and the folk around. In Jesus Christ name amen
We should pray for the people of Ukraine
