International (SAT-7/MNN) — Father’s Day is a time of celebration. But for some, it only means heartbreak–especially for relatives of martyred Christians. A new film expresses this reality.
Closure is a 60-minute drama based on true stories of Iranian Christian martyrs. It is directed by Jacob Hovsepian, the son of an Iranian Christian murdered for his faith.
The movie’s two-day premier in London was sponsored by SAT-7 PARS. SAT-7 PARS is a channel of SAT-7, a Christian satellite television ministry to the Middle East and North Africa. It is directed toward Iran and the wider Persian world. Since June 19, SAT-7 PARS has 90 days of exclusive broadcasting rights to the film.
This movie presents an inspiring message of courage for one’s beliefs in the face of persecution. It fits especially well with the audience of SAT-7 PARS, which constantly faces the reality of being killed or imprisoned for its Christian beliefs.
Since the plot is based on true events, it’s likely one the audience can relate to. The film’s main character is Dr. Dariush, a loving husband and father who devotes his free time to Christian outreach ministry. The family is stunned when Iranian intelligence officers raid their home at night, exposing his stash of Bibles. The officers brutally murder Dr. Dariush in full view of the family.

Cyrus, the doctor’s son, spends years trying to cope with resentment and bitterness. When he later finds himself face-to-face with his father’s killer, Majid, Cyrus must choose between vengeance or forgiveness. “Because of you, I’ve been fatherless for 30 years,” he tells Majid, his voice full of pain.
The plot of Closure is a very harsh reality for many people throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Can you keep these people in your prayers?
