Workers needed for unreached ministry in North America

North America (MNN) — Unreached people groups. What are they? According to Joshua Project, an unreached or least-reached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group. When you read that, do you immediate think of unreached ministry in North America?

Probably not. But, in far reaching areas of North America there are peoples who are considered unreached with the Gospel. That’s why SEND International is investing so much time there. They want these unreached peoples to not only hear the Gospel, but grow in their faith.

They have a name for this unreached region. They call it the 60-70 Window, says Warren Janzen. “There’s a real exciting work opening up east-ward across the northern part of Canada, so expand our ministry among the native Alaskan and the Inuit people across the north.”

60-70 Window is from Alaska to Greenland. While SEND has had work in Alaska for a long time, Janzen says, “We just recently, in the last couple of months, have made a connection in northern Canada in 23 new villages have opened up to us. [It’s] an opportunity to place people in and take the Gospel to these villages who have no witness.”

While this is great news, Janzen says they need people. “We are maxed out. And, we are looking for new people to come and join that effort. They can bring their current skill, or they can join the current team and develop some skills in order to be the presence and bring the message of Jesus.”

If you have some community development skills, that can make a huge difference. “Trust is a huge issue. So, whatever we can do to build trust with these communities to add value, to bring value to these communities builds a bridge or trust over which we can bring the Gospel.”
