USA (MNN) — It's nice to be recognized for something you do. It's affirming. It's even more affirming when it's coming from an internationally recognized organization.
The Seed Company was recently presented with a national award by ministry giant Mission Exchange. Their accomplishment? Innovation.
The Innovation in Mission award was given to The Seed Company this year for their accelerated Bible translation work.
The Seed Company President Roy Peterson says, "We talked to Mission Exchange about our Bible translation acceleration model, working in partnership with national colleagues. We link them with technology and resources so that they can do Bible translation not only faster, and not only less expensive than ever before, but with the same high levels of quality that Wycliffe Bible Translators and our partners around the world have been known for."
This model has not only improved the way Bible translation is done, but it also allows people across the world to support the projects with ease. Each family wishing to participate is linked with a specific Bible translation project to pray for and support. Every $26 given goes to resource translators for one verse of the Bible.
The Seed Company has been able to watch this model grow and succeed, and the award injects encouragement and puts the group on the map.
"It affirms the direction that we're going: to invest in technology, invest in our national partnerships and colleagues. And it puts us on the radar screen for churches and others across the country who may want to take another look at the way Bible translation is being done today," notes Peterson.
The more people that get on board, the sooner Bible translation can be complete in all languages across the globe. Currently, there are about 2,000 languages with not a single verse of Scripture. With accelerated Bible translation programs and new technology, though, The Seed Company and other translation groups are committed to Vision 2025 — a goal that aspires to have a translation project started in every language of the world by the year 2025.
As more and more people do start to look into The Seed Company and the way Bible translation works these days, they can be a part of it. Peterson points out that for those who choose to hop on board, it's as if they're investing in discipleship for themselves, as well. "They will grow as believers as they link with these mother-tongue translators on the other side of the world."
