Kenya (MNN) — East Africa is a
region rich with resources.
Kenya has been targeted by many ministries as a strategic
location, so it is often used as a base. That has led to a perception that the country is overwhelmed with
resources, training, and Christian work. While that might be true of the major
cities in Kenya, it is not true of the rural areas, especially the far flung
northern regions.
As a result, there are ministry
teams who are mobilizing resources for more efficient use in evangelism in the
unreached parts of East Africa.
Global Advance has invested in this
work for two decades, helping to train, encourage and resource tens of
thousands of frontline shepherds. In fact, the ministry team just sponsored two
conferences in the northeast, in Mwinge and Garissa.
Jason Holland led the team along
with GAM partners in East Africa, David Hatley and Shem Kihoro. Over the
course of the meetings, they concentrated on pastors who are serving in areas that are 95% – 99%
Muslim.
There are roughly 20 pastors and churches in the city of Garissa,
and many of the leaders are isolated. The team met with pastors to strategize, train
and encourage. They will be strategically
positioned to reach their neighbors to the north in the nation of Somalia.
The final portion of the 2010 East Africa Project is a training
event in Sudan. Pray for
believers to be bold and courageous, yet filled with love, compassion and the
heart of Christ. Global Advance is thankful to be one of many parts in this
mission effort.
