USA (MNN) — Because of their media and healthcare ministry,
HCJB Global is known around the world as the voice and hands of Jesus. Their
"Voice and Hands of Jesus" contest last spring challenged believers
across America to share how they planned to be Christ's voice and hands in
summer outreach projects. Three of the contest winners shared their stories
with Mission Network News, and on Tuesdays, over the next few weeks, we'll be bringing those stories to
you.
Outreach projects were required to have two components: one
declaring Jesus (the Voice) and another demonstrating Him through action
(Hands).
"We just want to infect more and more U.S. believers with
the passion to reach out to places that have yet to hear the Gospel, yet to
experience Christ's love expressed through our voice and hands," HCJB
President Wayne Pederson explains. "It was just such an energizing thing
for our people and for the winners."
Ten winners were chosen and given $200 to be used in
completing their project, along with a flip-camera to record their actions. Footage
from the outreach projects will be posted on HCJB's Web site.
Contest winners included Jared and Hannah Norton , Aryn Faughnan, Robert
Brunner, Stephanie Tamayo, Chaplain Dennis Fruzza, Joyce Tindell, Sheila
D'Herde, Vonn Dornbrush, Kristin Vanderwell and Hank Stout. Their projects were
completed both in the United States and internationally.
When asked if HCJB will sponsor the contest again, Pederson
affirmed.
"It's just a fun way to use some of the new technology
God has given us to motivate people and to communicate to people what can be
done when God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things."
