Kenya (MNN) — A missionary pilot with Africa Inland Mission is at home with the Lord following the crash of his AIM AIR Cessna 206.
Frank Toews had been flying with AIM for a number of years, helping missionaries spread the
Gospel. The accident occurred on August 1 at about
2:30 p.m. (EAT) near the Nairobi Wilson Airport.
Medical evaluations for the three passengers are
ongoing. AIM AIR mechanic Ryan Williams
received serious injuries including a fractured pelvis,
multiple contusions, and some significant burns. His prognosis for recovery is good.
The other two passengers received minor injuries. According to CNN, Dan Parris and Rob
Lehr of St. Louis, MO, were creating a documentary on poverty in
Africa. Because the
airplane's doors were open to allow filming, Lehr was ejected. He then helped pull the other three
people out of the plane. Local residents
helped put out the fire, CNN reports.
AIM's mission is the coordination and delivery of safe,
reliable, economical air transport service to enhance the ministries of
evangelical missionaries, church workers, and Christian relief and development
agencies in East and Central Africa.
