Ecuador (MNN) — A jungle hospital established by HCJB Global marks its 50th year of providing spiritual and physical healing.
The mission hospital celebrated its anniversary over the weekend with an open house and a program featuring testimonies from missionaries and hospital employees, as well as a program from the hospital worker's association. A special worship service at the hospital and a presentation by Dr. Wally Swanson drew the events to a close; the former Global Hands missionary spoke about the hospital's response to a polio epidemic in 1969 among the Auca people.
Established in 1958, Hospital Vozandes-Shell is located at the edge of the Amazon basin in Shell, a remote city located 150 miles southeast of Ecuador's capital city. This 28-bed hospital serves as a trauma center and offers family care to those living in remote areas so that they may come to know Christ. This ministry works closely with Mission Aviation Fellowship, which flies patients to the hospital from surrounding, otherwise inaccessible, communities.
HCJB Global praises God for His faithfulness in bringing spiritual and healing to the people of remote areas in Ecuador, so that they too may know Christ.
