Haiti (MNN) — Last year at this time, AMG International team
members reported a church in Grand Bassin, Haiti had no seating for its
congregation.
It wasn't unusual for something so basic to be missing. This community of 20,000 has no electricity
or power lines. There is no water piped into homes. There is virtually no
medical care in this town. The closest hospital is 18 miles away.
Pastor Rodne partners with AMG International to change
people's lives in Haiti. He leads a congregation of 1,000 members in
Grand-Bassin. There is a large school of
600 students who learn about Jesus in daily Bible classes. AMG donors sponsor
children at this school, which helps pay for their schooling, supplies,
uniform, and a daily meal.
According to AMG, the pastor realized that a medical clinic in
Grand-Bassin was a growing necessity. It
would be an opportunity to minister to the community and share the Gospel with
hurting people.
The church provided the startup funds to begin building the
medical clinic. An AMG short-term mission team arrived to help put up the
walls.
Team members also visited Rodne's church and noticed that
over 1,000 worshipers stood for hours during prayer and worship services. The team came home determined to raise funds
to provide benches, at the cost of $100 apiece, to support the church
outreach.
As a result, fifty new benches are now helping the
congregation as the members are discipled in their faith. Pray for Pastor Rodne, that
the light of the Gospel will shine brightly through him in this ministry.
