Since its purchase, it has become a gathering place with the atmosphere of a "homecoming event" for families, church groups, schools, as well as friends who have traveled on Global Aid Network short-term mission trips.
2006 is the first year of operation of the warehouse building and it has been a time of renovations. Teams have been transforming a former fish hatchery into a place for processing, storage, and shipment of humanitarian aid, offices for staff members, and overall repairs and maintenance.
However, the facility has a critical roof problem. Left unrepaired, damage to warehouse contents is likely, and further deterioration to the roof will eventually cost even more. That could cause a disruption of distribution.
GAiN is raising funds for repair and is looking for work teams. Due to the generosity of a friend of Global Aid Network, a matching grant of $76,000 has been offered, provided the other $76,000 is raised for the repair needs.
