India (MNN) ― Last weeks train bombings in India that killed nearly 200 people and injured hundreds more only emphasizes the need for the Gospel in a country where its people worship millions of gods. Book of Hope has a burden for these people, which is why they're producing a film, especially for them.
It's called "The Godman" a 3D animated film on the life of Christ, with special segments targeted for specific areas of the world. While the American version is completed, Book of Hope just finished the Indian dramatic segments for that version, says Book of Hope's Joel Hayes. "We finished filming in India. We expect the film to be finished by the end of August. We'll be doing some presentations with our partners from September on."
They plan to do a three city premiere in December. "Those cities will be Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. We expect those to be rather large events where we're looking to attract attention to the film. We're also seeking to get it on national television in the December time frame to also give it exposure."
With terrorism and oppression ever present in Indian society, Hayes says this film couldn't come at a better time. "India, with its multiple castes, with people that are considered not even worthy of even venturing into the temple, the film itself will be able to present to them a message that they are important in God's eyes, that they have value, and that they're value is through the blood of Jesus Christ."
Hayes is appealing to Christians to help fund viewing units. "Those viewing units are comprised of projections screens, sound and even generators." A church could sponsor a unit at $3,500.
The edition of these units and the film will help Book of Hopoe reach 40-million young people a year, with the ultimate goal of share the Gospel with every child in India.
