International (MNN) ― Statistics show the HIV/AIDS pandemic is sweeping the globe with a death rate that takes a life every 12 seconds.
Secular programs are seeing moderate success in fighting the infection rates, but more often than not, the approach is a reactive one, as opposed to pro-active.
What's required to see change in those numbers, is a lifestyle change. That's why the Bible is such an effective tool in international youth ministries.
Recognizing that, IBS launched a program in 2004. Called 'Reach 4 Life', the book developed for it contains the full text of IBS' New International Version New Testament. It also has 250 pages of notes dealing with many related issues, providing a holistic message of abstinence.
The U.S. and Canadian church youth groups are raising funds to support the International Bible Society's 'Reach 4 Life' abstinence programs in Africa.
Since 2004, the program has expanded it into Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the U.S.
