CIS (MNN) ― In the Commonwealth of Independent States, the hope of the Gospel continues to spread.
For security reasons, we can't describe specific locations, but we can describe the activity. A Slavic Gospel Association church planter, whom we'll call 'David' continues to organize new groups throughout his community.
According SGA, in the vernacular of the churches in Russia, a "group" is really the beginning of a church. Many churches planted in Russia are started as small Bible studies.
As they grow, the group becomes ministers, and not just those being ministered to. Eventually, they may receive a pastor of their own and send out their own church planters.
That is David's hope. In the last two years, he has planted a new church in one town. There is already a group of 15 people. The SGA team has already ordained a 30-year-old man for the Pastoral ministry.
David is now praying for a neighboring town of 12,000 people, where they hope to plant a church in the next two years. Two existing churches, with 73 members, will take care of the new church.
