Believers help rebuild lives in southern Sudan.

Posted: 7 December, 2004

Sudan (MNN) ― Sudan's government is urging rebels in the south to come to a peace accord before 2005. A peace agreement will likely be signed in January, ending more than two decades of civil war between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement.
The ongoing war has become a humanitarian crisis. As a result, the United Nations is asking for $1.5 billion (USD) for humanitarian assistance next year in conflict-ravaged Sudan.
The Evangelical Free Church got word that five of their Sudanese churches in northern Uganda and southern Sudan were in urgent need. The churches work in the camps where there are between 45 to 60-thousand people living.
The EFCA sent over 17-thousand dollars for food and other supplies for those in greatest need, thus demonstrating the love of Christ to the refugees.
Unlike many other organizations involved inhumanitarian response, EFCA's Compassion Ministries engage the local church to assist when needs arise. In this case, the Evangelical Free Church of Sudan has over the past few years, ministered to those stricken by both famine and war.
Pray for those in ministry, and pray that the seeds of the Gospel bear fruit.
