USA (MNN) ― The City Reachers' Bible distribution campaign began in the U.S. four years ago.
International Bible Society-Send The Light's Paul Tolleson says every year since then, their team has been unleashing waves of Scripture that have been customized to the city and distributed in local newspapers.
The ministry produces the NIV New Testament in paperback form, surrounded by compelling images, testimonies and Christian facts unique to the city.
He says, "We like to say that the book is 'pick up-able', because it doesn't look like a Scripture piece or a Bible. It's not black leather, with 'Holy Bible' written on it. What we're trying to do is engage people who normally would not pick up that type of Scripture piece because it looks like something from their city. It has the landmarks of their city on it."
Tolleson says this is the first step in evangelism and discipleship. The effort ensures that people will have access to the Bible and the opportunity to experience its life-changing message. "It is a sourcebook for everyday living. We find standards for our conduct, guidelines for knowing right from wrong, and principles to help us in a confused society where so often ‘anything goes,'" IBS-STL declares on its Web site.
Their next drop is April 13th in Philadelphia. Tolleson notes, "We've included helps for them, to help them understand what they're reading, to guide them through their reading, to get them more engaged. Pray for distribution in greater Philadelphia, and for the Spokane, Washington region in May. We also have others coming up in the fall."
There are several other efforts underway, but funding is needed to keep the momentum going. Click here if you can help.
