Mauritania is number 24 on the 2008 World Watch List of countries with heavy persecution--up from #32 in 2007. There is strong opposition to Christianity both socially and culturally. The majority of the population is Sunni Muslim.
Open Doors asks that you pray for unity among new believers and the church in the Mauritania. Pray that Christians stand firm in their faith, despite opposition.
