The DVD will be used by missionaries on the field, church groups, and individuals who simply want to learn more if they've been asked to teach English. The things that are learned from the DVD can be implemented almost anywhere, according to Dayle Burkhart of Greater Europe Mission. "France, north Africa, really anywhere, even in North America we have a lot of immigrant English programs that could use training," she said.
The need for quality English teaching skills is crucial for sharing the Gospel. "Teaching English just widens the audience; it widens the contacts that individuals have in their community. And if you're not teaching with quality, then you don't have credibility, and then your representation of Christ doesn't have credibility either," Burkhart said.
"We hope that the DVD will provide quality that will give people the confidence that they need to teach English and to teach it well," she added.
In many cases, dialog journals are implemented as a teaching tool. This offers an opportunity for faith sharing in places where it is not possible to share the Gospel openly. Burkhart said in one case in North Africa, "The first or second night of classes one of the students wrote to her teacher in the dialogue journal, ‘I want you to tell me all about your faith.' That's an open door, and we can respond to that kind of open door."
