USA (MNN) ― Purpose Driven Ministries is rallying the troops. In answering the question, "What is faith without action?" Saddleback Church and PDM have put together a curriculum that will teach and equip participants for positive change in the fight to end the HIV/AIDS crisis.
The summit is designed to start conversations and build networking that will strengthen the movement to eradicate AIDS. It is built around five parts.
P.E.A.C.E. plan components encourage believers to: Plant churches/Promote Reconciliation, Equip servant leaders, Assist the poor, Care for the sick, and Educate the next generation.
It is currently being tested in more than 80 countries and addresses the five biggest global problems that encompass leadership, finance, health, education and faith.
PDM has also invited the top presidential candidates to be part of the Global Summit on AIDS and the Church. The Summit is slated for November 27th through December 1st. Ending the HIV/AIDS pandemic needs the cooperation of the next U.S. president and ministry leaders.
"Inviting politicians from different perspectives to the Summit is not a political decision -- it is a humanitarian and Christian action," said Saddleback pastor Rick Warren. "When millions are dying each year, we're interested in lives, not labels. We want everyone to become concerned about the AIDS pandemic."
The candidates will learn more information about the P.E.A.C.E. plan, a worldwide effort to mobilize 1 billion church members to respond to the crisis. Senator Hillary Clinton was the first to formally accept.
Clinton will appear on-site, along with those joining live via satellite Nov. 29 for a special session titled "Global P.E.A.C.E. Plan: Conversations with Leaders."
Invitations were extended to leading presidential candidates, many of whom have agreed to join Clinton via live satellite feed including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Several others have expressed interest but due to scheduling are unable to confirm.
The Warrens have been mobilizing Christians for over four years now to overturn the pandemic. They are convinced that AIDS cannot be ended without the Church and the two billion followers of Christ around the globe.
