Ghana (MNN) ― Oasis International's Ambrose Brennan says they just finished, on Monday, celebrating a rite of passage with a group of students who were working with the Oasis Institute in Prampram, Ghana. "We had 10 students who graduated. Some of them completed our Bible theology course; others, our leadership course; and others, our Christian leadership training course."

Since its opening in 2002, the Training Centre has offered classes in Leadership, Financial Management, "Understanding God" Bible Class, Old Testament Tabernacle, Basic Computer Applications, English, and Study of the Human Body. Students walk, ride their bicycles, or travel by taxi, and a limited number drive from neighboring towns to attend daily classes. Their hunger for learning, especially for the Word of God, is admirable. Pastors of many churches in the area are being instructed in the ways of God, which influences the people of their congregations.

Dovetailing neatly with the graduation is the planning of the Christmas parade in Prampram.  Brennan says some of the newly-graduated students are on the committee.

The goal of the parade? To help raise funds for the construction of a community health clinic.  "We've been teaching them about team ministry, about God's armor bearer, and some other subjects. I really believe that the students have been getting a greater revelation of the Word of God and realizing that they can play a vital part in the establishment and growth of their own local churches and then reach out to others."

The vision of their training center is not only helping people out of poverty through vocational training, but also giving them vision for ministry through Bible training. The founder and president of the Oasis Churches and Oasis Training Center's Elvina Miller says, "This goes to prove the importance of knowledge and the blessing of sharing the Gospel to other people."
