Peru (MNN) ― Thousands of homeless are waiting for help in Peru's quake zone. International Aid (IA) is working with 10 partner churches near the quake's epicenter to begin distribution of hygiene kits, blankets and miscellaneous relief supplies.

They're also partnering with medical supplier BD (Becton Dickinson and Company) to ship critically needed first-aid and medical supplies.

Once the shipment arrives, these local churches will be acting as the hands and feet of Christ as they begin distributing supplies to suffering families and on-the-ground relief workers.  Damaged roads and poor communications are complicating their work.

This shipment will be the first in their effort to help victims of the massive earthquake which struck August 15, killing hundreds and leaving thousands injured and homeless.

International Aid's partners on the ground report that the situation is desperate, with so many individuals injured and without shelter. The threat of disease is growing as the rescue efforts have turned toward cleanup.

It's a desolate situation, but I-A is trying to streamline the relief effort. More than products or material goodsat this time I-A needs funds to sustain what is expected to be a long-term project. Please pray. Click here if you can help.
