"There are areas of Afghanistan that have some of the highest infant mortality rates in the world--just incredible needs throughout that country. Our presence there has allowed a lot of work to go on in some very remote areas that would not go on if it wasn't for the flight services that we're able to provide," said Tim Strauss of PACTEC.
There are many roads in remote areas of Afghanistan that are not accessible all year round. Working with non-government organizations, PACTEC helps them get their services to remote areas that need the most help.
Recently, they were able to help when an urgent appeal for medication came across their radio. Within hours, PACTEC was able to drop antibiotics to a village in Central Afghanistan that had a meningitis outbreak. Thankfully, no one died as a result of the outbreak, in part because of the rapid aid that was possible.
"They're very open and very appreciative of the help that comes," said Strauss.
PACTEC currently has three King Air airplanes and one single-engine plane for flying to more remote areas. They want to expand their ministry in Afghanistan.
Strauss said, "We would love to see the funds to be able to purchase an airplane and base it there. It needs to be a single engine turbine engine airplane. That would open up a whole area of the country on a much greater level."
They also have desperate needs for people with servant's hearts. Not only do they need pilots and mechanics, they need managers and teachers as well.
