USA (MNN) ― Unrelenting rains in Texas last week have resulted in a declared major disaster area.  11 have been reported dead.

Some areas received more than two feet of rain.

World Vision is responding to the thousands of displaced families who survived the floods.  Through their Gifts-in-Kind Program American corporations were able to donate supplies for the families in need.  World Vission will distribute items like clothing, diapers for the children, and hygiene products.

Weather forecasts predict more rain for the area and the damage done will vary.  Some families may return to simply wet carpet, while others may find the water has risen halfway up their home.  While a few families have been allowed to return, there are many that have not.

The storms that caused the flooding also caused 152 flights to be cancelled and 56 flight diversions from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
